Peak to Peak

Soccer

peak-to-peak-soccer-nederland-colorado-7.jpeg

SINCE 2000, PEAK TO PEAK SOCCER HAS PROVIDED NEDERLAND AND THE SURROUNDING AREA A NON-COMPETITIVE YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE!

This late summer/fall program is geared toward teaching any young soccer fan basic skills with an emphasis on sportsmanship and teamwork while having fun. Practices take place on the Nederland Elementary School fields immediately after school for 1-2 practices a week lasting 1 to 1 ½ hours depending on the age. Games are played every Saturday against the other league teams from Idaho Springs and Gilpin County.

Peak to Peak Soccer was originally started by local moms with the intention of getting kids involved in soccer regardless of ability level and with the goal of teaching skills beyond how to win. Good sportsmanship, how to be a team player and positive role modeling by coaches and parents are a focus of the program alongside learning ball handling, soccer rules, and team dynamics.

Encouraging parental involvement is a key component of this volunteer run program. From coaching to hanging nets, providing concessions and prepping the fields for game days, parents are asked to play an active role in making the season a success.

Comments/Scheduling Concerns: Please note schedule conflicts in your registration. We will try to accommodate if possible.

Age Info: By asking for your child’s date of birth, we are making a uniform cut-off date for all three communities (Nederland, Gilpin and Idaho Springs) to create an experience that is fun and safe for all ages. Please remember that “U” means “Under”. July 31st is our date that your child must be born on or before to play in each grouping.

U7: 5-6 year-olds
U9: 7-8 year-olds
U11: 9-10 year-olds
U14: 11-13 year-olds

We understand that some children want to and are able to play “up” a level. We leave this decision to parents and/or coaches. There will not, under any circumstances, be a reason why a child will play “down” a level. We feel strongly that “playing down” discourages the values we are trying to instill in our soccer program–learning the game and having a good time doing it!

General Practice Info

Full practices tentatively begin the week of Aug. 19th at your coach’s discretion.

  • Teams will be set the second week of August. You will be notified of your practice day once teams are set. Potential practice days are M-F; practice days vary by age group.

  • NES requests the following:

    • No snacks in the kiva or hallways.

    • Players should keep their soccer balls in the backpacks until they get outside. Super important!!
